My name is Masha Eretnova and I am a nomadic abstract artist working with acrylics, texture, and mixed media.
I work mainly on canvas and paper.
I think of my abstract paintings as unfinished thoughts, rarely naming the works to ensure I don’t plant ideas to prime viewers.
My work is intended to imbue with personal meaning and reflects on identity, character formation and personality development.
I believe any meaning and feelings attached to a particular painting can evolve and change over time. Through my paintings, I can look deeper into myself, and encourages viewers to embark on this journey.
Theme of interests: identity and its loss, where do I belong?, personality development, societal perception of women, abstraction, creating art with no meaning.

Why this work is called Love? The bottom represents ourselves as individuals, more specifically, our past. We all have dark corners, traumas, experiences, memories. If we had a certain harmful and toxic scenario, we will repeat it again and again, staying in a dark circle.
The white line is a blank separator. It is the moment we are healing and meeting the Loved One. It is sort of starting from scratch. If you can do it, you will move forward to the top part, if you’re not ready yet, you’re back to the past.
The top part has the same black color representing the bottom – the past – as we can’t deny it, our past is a part of us, we are not becoming someone else, we are transforming our past experience into something healthier. You can also see grey color and white color, and kind of 2 objects on the canvas. It is us: we and our partner.
Somehow we are distant, somehow we are connected. We are different, but we are together – symbiosis.
